Nyanya Blast: SSS Arrests Mastermind’s Father

The Department of State Security (DSS) has announced the arrest of retired Colonel Agene Ogwuche, the father of the suspected mastermind of the Nyanya bombing of April 14, 2014.
The retired Colonel’s arrest was announced by Marilyn Ogar, the spokesperson for the DSS on Thursday.
Ogar revealed that Col Ogwuche arrested for breaching the bond, which he signed while taking his son’s bail in 2012.
Before his arrest in Sudan on Wednesday, Ogwuche’s son, Abubakar Sadiq, a British born Nigerian, was arrested on November 12, 2011 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on arrival from the UK on terrorism related charges but was released on October 15, 2012, following intense pressure from human rights activists, who alleged human rights violation.
While speaking at the briefing where Col Ogwuche’s arrest was announced, Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, said the suspect’s father would be made to answer for his inability to meet the bail bond, which he signed pledging to produce his son when needed for questioning.
More than 100 people were killed by the early morning explosion that rocked Nyanya motor park in Abuja while many others were injured
