Lagos Police Command Confirms Death Of Hotel Manager In Hotel Room

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of Mr Uche Egwuenu, the Operations Manager of Maybeny Hotel, Isolo, who was found dead in one of the rooms in the hotel on Saturday.

The Command’s Spokeswoman, Patricia Amadin, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said that corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

She said that the police had commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the hotel manager.

The Street Journal gathered that the deceased was the son of one Chief Egwuenu, said to be the owner of the hotel.

He was said to have locked himself up in one of the rooms early on Friday and Nobody heard from him again throughout the day, thereby, prompting investigation.

Hotel sources said that the assistant manager and other staff of the hotel reported the matter at the Isolo Divisional Police Headquarters.

Consequently, the DPO and others who visited the hotel, forced the room open and found the deceased dead on the bed.

A source said: “His stomach was swollen and white liquid substance suspected to be hard drugs, a diary and a bottle of Orijin drink with mixed liquid, were recovered from the room.”

It would be recalled that cases of men, particularly of high profile, found dead in hotel rooms, have been on the increase in Nigeria of late.
