“Madman” Arrested With Gun in Abuja

The FCT Police has said the Command had arrested a man with firearms, who pretended to be a lunatic on January 20 around the Apo bridge.
Wilson Inalegwu, the FCT Commissioner of Police, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen on Monday in Abuja. Inalegwu said that the suspect was apprehended by a police patrol team on a stop-and-search duty, following a tip-off.
He said that when the Police operatives searched him, a locally made pistol and a polythene bag containing wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from him.
He advised members of the public to always report any suspicious movement to the police. The Commissioner said that the Apo Division was investigating the matter.
He also disclosed that 129 Inspectors of Police in the FCT Command were recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)
“This promotion will enhance my work and make me to work harder and to fight criminality in the country,“ he said.
