A 20-year-old-man, Adamu Abubakar, will spend the next five years in imprisonment for stealing goods not worth a million naira.
The convict who pleaded guilty to the three-count charge bothering on conspiracy, burglary and stealing, was sentenced to five years imprisonment on each of the three counts with no option of fine.
They are to run concurrently.
Abubakar who was arraigned for burglary and stealing at an Evbouriaria Magistrate’s Court in Benin, was sentenced on Monday by the Presiding Magistrate of the Court, Mr. F. O. Idiake.
The Prosecutor, ASP Aigbedion Obakpolor, told the Court that the convict with others still at large, committed the crime on March 13, at 187, Sapele Road, in Benin.
Obakpolor estimated the total goods stole by the convict at N898,000, properties of one Mrs. Uyi Benson.
He said the offence contravened section 516 and 413 (2) of the criminal code cap 48 voll laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo.
